FARIBAULT, Minn. (Oct. 8, 2024) — Faribault Medical Center is now offering a new mental health treatment for teens, called a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).
One in seven adolescents experiences a mental health disorder, according to the World Health Organization. This program is designed with their needs in mind. PHP can help prevent or reduce the need for mental health hospitalization. It also supports teens so they can remain at home, which is the goal for many families.
During the 3-4 week group therapy program, teens will meet with a psychiatric provider, connect with other teens in the program and learn coping skills. The program is Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We have found great success with our Partial Hospitalization Program at other sites in Allina Health, and we’re pleased to be able to offer it to teens in Rice County,” said Whitney Johnson, president, Faribault Medical Center and Owatonna Hospital. “It’s an intermediate level of care that bridges the gap for patients who need a more intensive program than day treatment while not needing inpatient care. It allows us to provide the right level of care for patients close to where they live."
