Allina Health Nursing Professional Development Program receives accreditation

Allina Health was granted accreditation for nursing continuing professional development (NCPD) in July from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association.

The ANCC NCPD accreditation program recognizes influential organizations worldwide that demonstrate excellence in NCPD, indicating the use of evidence-based ANCC criteria to plan, implement and evaluate the highest quality professional development activities for nurses.

ANCC NCPD accredited organizations provide their own nursing continuing professional development activities, something Allina Health’s Nursing Professional Development team has worked diligently toward. Accreditation demonstrates Allina Health’s commitment to developing high-quality educational activities that promote professional growth for nursing.

Allina Health’s nursing professional development program earned accreditation for enhancing skills and knowledge, enabling nurses to deliver improved patient care through evidence-based practices and high care standards that align with the values of integrity, respect, trust, compassion and stewardship. ANCC NCPD accreditation fosters a culture of learning and excellence, contributing to both nurse retention and patient satisfaction.

NCPD accreditation from ANCC elevates educational offerings that benefit nurses, and the patients and communities served, by:

  • Promoting the highest professional standards to sustain effective strategies that improve professional nursing practice.
  • Improving curricula for nurses to provide evidence-based education that strengthen professional development programs.
  • Increasing credibility to adhere to evidence-based, global standards that deliver quality, professional education.
  • Expanding visibility to be included among other accredited organizations that are listed in a nationwide, searchable directory.
  • Increasing demand to offer continuing professional development contact hours that are essential to building professional portfolios, and maintaining certification and accreditation from ANCC and other licensing boards and regulatory bodies.

ANCC standards provide organizations with a structured, evidence-based framework to design and implement NCPD activities. The development of quality outcomes ensures that accredited organizations continuously evaluate processes and their impact on the professional development of nurses.
