New Ulm Medical Center welcomes the first baby born in 2025

Baby boy arrived Jan. 2 at 5:48 p.m.

NEW ULM, Minn. (Jan. 03, 2024) — The New Ulm Medical Center care team helped a Fairfax, Minn. family welcome Gatsby James Vassar to the world on Thursday, Jan. 2 at 5:48 p.m.  

Weighing five pounds, 14 ounces and measuring 17 ½ inches at birth, Gatsby is the first baby born at New Ulm Medical Center this year, and the first child for mother Nicole Valdez and father Odin Vassar. Baby Gatsby was originally due on Jan. 20. Congratulations to all and welcome, Gatsby!
