Vikings rookie quarterback: Allina Health orthopedic surgeon explains injury

[KARE11 News, August 13, 2024] The Minnesota Vikings rookie quarterback suffered a knee injury during a preseason game against Las Vegas. Now, J.J. McCarthy reportedly needs meniscus surgery. The Star Tribune and KARE 11 News reached out to Ryan Fader, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with Allina Health Orthopedics, to get answers about what a meniscus is and how long it takes recover from surgery.

“The big thing for fans to know is that I think he’ll come out of this OK,” Dr. Fader said to the Star Tribune. “The timeline is up in the air right now, but I do think he’ll come out of this OK. I don’t picture this being a career-ending injury for him.”
