Allina Health paramedic helps with highway birth of baby boy

[WCCO-TV News, February 28, 2025] A Minnesota family has quite the birth story to tell.“It’s movie stuff, and it happened in real life,” said Ashley H., as she described her son's birth.

Ashely felt contractions early Thursday morning in Zimmerman, MN. She, the baby’s father and brother hopped in the car headed to The Mother Baby Center at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.

They didn’t make it. She felt the baby coming, and they called 911.

Allina Health paramedic Michael Cox was one of the first responders who arrived to help. Ashley made it into the ambulance, but they didn’t make it to the hospital. She safely delivered her precious son in the ambulance on the side of a highway. WCCO-TV shared their story.
