Allina Health doctor trains for marathon after paired liver donation

[Fox 9 News, March 25, 2025] Michael Broeker, MD, is an Allina Health family physician in Eagan, a marathoner and a living donor. Dr. Broeker shows what it means to care for others. He's donated a kidney and part of his liver to strangers. He's now training for his first marathon post-liver donation.  

Dr. Broeker hopes to come in under five hours in the Eau Claire marathon next month and maybe inspire others to follow in his footsteps and become living organ donors as well.

As he told Fox 9, "I think to be able to share that with other people and know that they can make a difference for somebody, whether it's someone they know or someone they've never met. It's an amazing experience."

March 30 will mark Doctor's Day, a day to celebrate the compassionate care delivered by people like Dr. Broeker.
