“I remember someone holding my hand and saying, ‘Hold on Jerry, a helicopter will take you to the hospital, and it’s only minutes away,’” Jerry said in an interview with reporter John Wagner for the County News Review.
Jerry suffered a heart attack and was being transported to Allina Health Abbott Northwestern Hospital. Within minutes of landing, doctors were putting in a stent to relieve the blockage in Jerry’s heart. He was going to make it.
Recovery, rehab and therapy followed. It took serious work — both physical and mental — but eventually Jerry bounced back.
“I learned to trust the process,” Jerry said in his interview. “I followed the recommendations, and it helped me get to a better place.”
This year, as he marks a decade of healthier and happier living, Jerry is looking back and saying thanks, including to his medical team.
Allina Health nurse Sadie Farr, RN, physician Daniel Wallace, MD, and medical assistant Amy Moss (pictured) are among the care team members who Jerry is remembering with gratitude.
“Your expertise and compassion gave me the care and confidence I needed to move forward, and I will always be thankful,” he said.
