Local teen finds confidence and enthusiasm for patient care at Mercy Hospital

[Allina Health Newsroom, March 04, 2025]  Eldijana Lilic volunteers for Allina Health at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, the same place where she was born.  

“I really wanted to give back to the community near where I grew up,” Eldijana said.  

Like many Allina Health volunteers, including the more than 500 who give time at Mercy Hospital, Eldijana is a part of the care team.  

“I get to interact with the patients one-on-one,” she said. “I love doing that.” 

Eldijana says there’s strong support for young people from supervisors and other volunteers who have longer histories with Mercy Hospital. 

“It’s a great opportunity to make connections with other people,” Eldijana said. “I’ve definitely found my confidence here at Allina.” 

She says her favorite part of volunteering is seeing patients go home after their care. 

“I love watching them get to the comfort of their loved ones,” Eldijana said. “It just really warms my heart.”
