What do I need to do to become a Courage Kenny volunteer?

  •  Be at least 16 years old for most assignments
  • Agree to a background check
  • Complete new volunteer orientation
  • Schedule a placement interview (required for some assignments)
  • Complete training(s) specific to the assignment
  • Provide proof of completed first series of COVID-19 and an annual influenza vaccine (or request and be approved for a religious or medical exemption by Allina Health)
  • First step is to complete a Volunteer Application HERE

Types of volunteer opportunities

Opportunities range from occupational and physical therapy and aquatics and fitness, to support groups and adaptive sports and recreation.  

Special events   

Short-term projects and one-time volunteer experiences such as adaptive sport tournaments, and fundraising galas and celebrations are also offered. If you or an organization you represent are interested, contact ckrivolunteerservice@allina.com to be added to our special events email list.

How much time is required to volunteer?

Your time commitment will vary. Some assignments are seasonal, while others are year-round. In general, we expect a minimum commitment of 2-4 hours weekly for at least three months. We also offer opportunities for placement into ongoing, long-term assignments.
