The Stroke Center at Mercy Hospital is certified by DNV-GL as a Primary Stroke Center. The Center provides an integrated and comprehensive approach to stroke care from diagnosis and treatment to rehabilitation, while offering evidence-based, best-of-practice acute care and rehabilitation.
Emergency care
- Neurologist and neurosurgery coverage 24 hours per day
- Diagnostic technology, such as 3T MRI, MR angiography, 64-slice CT scanner with angiography,
- Immediate assessment, intervention and management of acute stroke within the Emergency Department, including clot-busting medications
Inpatient care
- Award-winning Intensive Care Unit with specially trained registered nurses
- Designated inpatient unit for stroke care with cardiac monitoring capabilities
- Inpatient nursing staff with special training in stroke care
- Surgery to treat hemorrhage, and carotid endarterectomy for narrowed blood vessels
