Hospitalist care

Our hospitalists are board-certified providers who oversee your care while in the hospital. They are on duty 24/7 and coordinate your care needs with other doctors, nurses and care professionals.

Your hospitalist also partners with your primary care provider and provides them with a summary of your hospital visit.

What do hospitalists do?

  • Provide ongoing and immediate care
  • Order diagnostic tests
  • Monitor patients’ conditions
  • Make treatment decisions with input from specialty providers
  • Coordinate patient care among all members of the care team

Why it matters

Nationwide studies show that hospitalists can improve the quality of care, increase patient comfort, improve communication between patients, families, and caregivers, and minimize the time a patient needs to stay in the hospital. In addition, if an emergency occurs during hospitalization, hospitalists are available to see a patient right away.
