The Fellowship in Advanced Structural Heart Disease (SHD) Interventions at the Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute (AHMHI) is designed to train qualified applicants in various aspects of percutaneous valvular and other non-valvular, adult and congenital structural interventions. Graduates of our 1-year training program are expected to be fully proficient in performing all aspects of structural interventional techniques.
The Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute Catheterization Laboratory performs over 600 structural interventions every year. Our academic schedule includes a weekly multidisciplinary Valve Conference with approximately 20-30 case presentations with detailed CT/MRI and TTE/TEE review. Fellows will gain familiarity with the interpretation and performance of these advanced imaging modalities, develop expertise in the clinical evaluation, procedural planning, and management of patients considered for structural heart interventions. The Advanced Structural Heart Disease fellow can expect to perform between 350-450 structural interventions with progressive responsibility as an independent operator.
