There are different types of hysterectomy surgeries. Your doctor will talk with you about the type of surgery you will behaving.
During a total hysterectomy, the uterus and cervix are removed.
During a subtotal hysterectomy, the uterus is removed, leaving the cervix in place.
During a salpingo-oophorectomy, one or both of the ovaries and fallopian tubes are removed. (The term for this is unilateral orbilateral.)
Your surgeon will draw where your incisions will be made during your surgery.
