Through its fundraising efforts, the Owatonna Hospital Auxiliary recently gifted 330 sleep sacks to the Owatonna Hospital Birth Center. Each baby born at the hospital will receive one. Sleep sacks are designed to eliminate the need for loose blankets and provide a safe, comfortable sleeping environment for newborns. And they may help decrease risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

Allina Health announced a definitive agreement with Quest Diagnostics, a nationwide leader in laboratory diagnostic services. As part of the agreement, Quest will acquire select assets of Allina Health’s laboratory services business and provide laboratory services in most ambulatory clinics across the system. “We are grateful for our Allina Health laboratory team and the foundation of excellence they have established in lab services. Quest is the right partner to build on this strength to ensure providers and patients can continue to access innovative and high-quality laboratory services,” said Dominica Tallarico, Chief Operations Officer for Allina Health. “Consistent and reliable diagnostic services are critical to our ability to provide high-quality care. Like partnerships we’ve established in other areas of our organization, this new relationship with Quest will allow us to maintain excellent patient care, keep pace with rapidly evolving laboratory technology and reinvest our non-profit resources to support our caring mission well into the future.” Allina Health expects all in-scope, eligible clinic laboratory employees at impacted locations will be offered employment with Quest, pending Quest’s customary screening process. This agreement will not change lab services until the transition, which we expect to be complete by the fall of 2024. As we transition to this new laboratory services care delivery model, we will use all available tools to engage with patients and keep them informed about any changes to lab services.
